Carmen Dolores Brown

Carmen Dolores Brown, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away at the age 84 at her home in Dallas, TX on Saturday, January 21st with her husband and children by her side. She was loved and cherished by all who knew her, and she will be greatly missed.

Dolores, the name by which she chose to be called, was born May 22, 1932, in Austin, Texas, to Dr. Julian T. and Maria (Rios) Saldivar. She is preceded in death by her parents and only brother, Julian "Ted" Saldivar Jr.

She grew up in Austin and graduated from the University of Texas in Austin where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology. While attending the University of Texas, she met Karl Edwards Brown, whom she would marry on March 26th, 1955 in Austin, Texas.

There was nothing more important to Dolores than caring for her husband of 62 years as well as their 5 children, spouses and families (Karl Jr., wife Susan; Karen, husband Frank; Charles, wife Sherry; Christopher, wife Julie; and Cindy, husband Phillip. In addition to being survived by her husband, children and their spouses, she is blessed to be survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces and cousins. Dolores worked as substitute teacher at Holy Trinity Catholic School and volunteered as a Cub Scout Den Mother and as Girl Scout Leader. She was extremely active in her children’s lives.

The family would like to express their gratitude to all those who provided care for and showed compassion to Dolores and her family in her final days.

Visitation Service will be held Friday, January 27th, from 6:00-8:00 PM, with the Rosary being recited at 7:00 PM. Funeral Service will follow Saturday, January 28th, 10:00 AM. Both services will be conducted in the Chapel of Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 7405 W. Northwest Hwy, Dallas, Texas.
