Charles McElvain Bradford (Chuck), born March 12, 1954, in Chicago, Illinois, and raised in Dallas, Texas, by his parents, Charles Featherston Bradford and Caryl Ruth McElvain Keys, passed away peacefully April 3, 2021, in his own home with his loving wife of 35 years, Cheryl, by his side.
Chuck was passionate about everything he did. He loved the outdoors, mountains, hiking and music. He was a virtuoso of the guitar. During the summers of his boyhood, Chuck found many of his lifelong interests while attending Cheley Colorado Camps in Estes Park, riding horses, camping out and climbing numerous peaks of the Rocky Mountain National Park. His love for the mountains led him to the Cascades of Washington, where Chuck met Cheryl. They were introduced by Cheryl’s mother, Karen Elftmann, now deceased, who was also Chuck’s dear and adored friend. Before moving back to Texas, Chuck and Cheryl began raising a family in Washington, where they named their daughter, Sahale, after a beautiful mountain in North Cascades National Park. He worked hard for his family and retired from FedEx after 21 years of service.
Throughout his life, Chuck loved collecting coins, playing games, cooking and spending time with his wife and family. He had a great sense of humor and loved making people laugh, even in his last days. He loved his friends and connecting with anyone he met. He was passionate about his Scottish heritage and proud of his middle name. He loved and remained very close to his extended family, all of whom he held very dear to his heart.
Chuck is predeceased by his father and by his son, Jeffrey Charles Bradford, to whom Chuck donated the lower lobe of his own lung to extend life under duress of Cystic Fibrosis. In addition to his wife and mother, Chuck is survived by son, Nathan Bradford and his wife, Erika, and their daughter Isla Ruth; daughter, Sahale Bradford; brother Andrew Bradford and his wife, Shannon, and their daughters Lillian and Caryline; brother, Christopher Bradford and his children, Garrett and Sydney; sister, Pamela Krueger and her husband, David and their son Austin; sister, Ashley Bradford; stepmother, Carol Bradford; stepsister, Tracey Harris; and beloved dog, Tootsie Roll.

Hey Jude, don’t make it bad.
Take a sad song and make it better.
Remember to let her into your heart,
Then you can start to make it better.
