
She attended Booker T. Washington High School in Dallas, Texas, and continued her education at Dallas Baptist University. In 1988, Charline became a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Dallas Alumnae Chapter.
After completing her education, she began her professional career as a supervisor at Bank of America, where she faithfully served for 25 years before retiring. Not one to slow down, she later began a second career as an educator with the Dallas Independent School District, dedicating another 25 years to shaping young minds. During these years, she also embraced one of her most treasured roles — motherhood.
Charline was an active and devoted member of St. John Baptist Church. She especially enjoyed gardening and lovingly served for many years as a member of the church’s Garden Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oliver Chapman Sr. and Penny Chapman, her siblings Johnny Chapman, Wilbur Chapman, Larkin Chapman, Oliver Chapman Jr., William Chapman, Mary Cooksey, Della Chapman, and Rubie Buckley.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory her siblings: Fannie Walker, Earnestine Arrington, Cherrie Hall, and Percy Chapman; her children: Derek Paul Ray, Marcus Ray, Terrence Ray, and Clifford Lewis Ray; her grandchildren: Quayla Ray, Brandon Jefferson, Derek Ray II, Jazmin Ray, Daylon Williams, Precious Ray, Leneric Ray, and Madisen Ray; along with a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other relatives and friends who loved her dearly.
