Born to Adolph and Emmie Ruth (Horn) Weiss on May 19, 1939 in Dallas, Texas. I was Baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church on June 18, 1939. My younger sister, Linda, and I grew up in a home where the love of God was taught and practiced. Prayer was a part of each day, Sunday School and church - a vital part of each week. My parents were frugal, teaching the importance of sharing what we had, being satisfied with the gifts God had given and always giving back a portion of what He had given us.
Confirmed at Hope Lutheran Church, a small mission church where my parents were charter members, I was active in Walther League, teaching VBS, and playing the little field organ for worship services at the age of 13.
I graduated from the Concordia Teachers' College, now Concordia University, in River Forest, IL, and was placed in my first teaching position, Harahan, LA (suburb of New Orleans). Here I met the love of my life, my "soulmate" and husband of 47 years, Reverend Gordon Albers, whom God called from this earth in 2010. We were blessed with two beautiful daughters and son-in-laws, Michelle and David Meister and Nichole and Craig Pellar. Blessings continued to overflow as we shared the joys of being grandparents to Kelsey Danielle, Ashley Denise, and Kayla Noel. Our first granddaughter, Lauren Ashley, is the angel we hold in our hearts. I have become the great-grandmother to Beau Wayne, son of Kelsey and Brian Dyer.
The journey of my life with Gordon took us through many hills and valleys in New Orleans, Bryan, McAllen, and Austin, Texas, and Hot Springs, Arkansas. We set foot on many continents, and laid our heads on many pillows in many countries during our extensive travels throughout the world, experiencing the awesome landscapes and cultures of God's creations I never envisioned I would visit.
My stream of life has overflowed with blessings of mind, body, and spirit. I have been nurtured and fed by the heartfelt love of family and friends whom God placed in my path, and though I leave this life knowing I have made many mistakes, often failing to do what I should and doing the things I should not, a Loving and Gracious God forgives all and blesses all in His Way. My name was written in the palm of His hand and there I now reside.
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." -2 Timothy 4:7
