

Chester Prentice Sanders Jr. passed away peacefully May 30, 2019 in Dallas, Texas after a long illness. He was 79 years old. Chet was born June 4, 1939 in Center, Texas, the eldest son of Daliah and Prentice Sanders. He grew up in Center and graduated from Center High School where he continues to give to the Scholarship Foundation. He graduated from the University of North Texas where he was a member of the K A fraternity, and did his post graduate work at the University of Texas in Austin. He them served in the Coast Guard in San Francisco.
Chet had a long rewarding career in the securities business. He was with Underwood New house in Houston and J.C. Bradford in Nashville where he was a partner. They sold to Paine Webber and Co., an investment bank and stock brokerage firm. Chet then retired and moved to Dallas. He continued his passion for art as a collector of patron, and enjoyed being a docent at the Dallas Museum of Art. He was a member of the Dallas Historical Society and was a longtime volunteer at North Dallas Shared Ministries.
Chet also enjoyed reading, bicycling, and staying fit at the Cooper Aerobic Center. He played golf, liked snow skiing and playing the piano.
Chet is survived by his wife Betty, step daughter Natalie Canterbury and husband Scott, brother Mike Sanders, nephew Todd Sanders and wife Joy, niece Gwyn Katz and husband Greg, and numerous cousins.
Chet’s strong faith that he shared with Betty brought him peace and joy.
Those wishing to honor his memory may consider making a donation to Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, 8011 Douglas Ave, Dallas, TX 75225. A memorial service will be held in the chapel at Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at 11:00 AM.
