

as born in New Orleans, LA the youngest child and only daughter in a family of five brothers. She grew up in the same Carrollton neighborhood in New Orleans as her future husband William Joseph Mathé. They were married in 1942 in Denver, CO where William was attending flight school training in the Army Air Force. When William was deployed to the Pacific to fly B-24 bombers, Clara moved back to New Orleans. After WWII they were stationed in Kessler AFB MS, where two sons were born. Continuing a career in the Air Force, they moved to many different military bases with assignments in Texas where their third child, a daughter, was born; France where they explored family travel on a budget in Europe. They returned to the USA to Indiana where another son was born. Soon after they retired from the Air Force and moved back to Wichita Falls where William commenced a Civil Service career as an aircraft maintenance instructor.William and Clara were long time members of Our Lady Queen of peace Church in Wichita Falls. Clara was active in the Church and the Women's Altar Society. She was a talented porcelain artist and particularly enjoyed making pieces for family and friends. Clara was an avid traveler and enjoyed the adventure of new experiences. She was always ready for her next trip. Clara successfully lived independently in her Wichita Falls home until she was 90. She then relocated to the Brookdale Senior facility in Ft. Worth. Once her health declined she moved to the Silverado facility in Dallas.
Clara was preceded in death by her husband William Joseph Mathé and her son Raymond Joseph Mathé; her parents George C. Reppel and Clara ManskeReppel; and her brothers Howard Reppel, Alfred Reppel, George Reppel, Max Reppel and Oswald Reppel.Clara is survived by her large, loving family: her two sons William Joseph Mathé (wife Beverly Sheets Mathé) of The Woodlands Tx and Alvin Joseph Mathé (wife Sarah Matches) of Fort Worth TX and her daughter Marilyn Marie Mathé Pitzinger (husband Joseph A. Pitzinger) of Dallas TX; seven grandchildren, William J. Mathé III, Craig M. Mathé, Mark R. Mathé, Eleanor Pitzinger Scott, Joseph A. Pitzinger, Alvin J. Mathé and Noah R. Mathé; and eight great-grandchildren, Mia Catherine Mathé, William B. Mathé, Emma A. Mathé, Riley E. Mathé, Abby C Mathé, Brielle Rhys Mathé, Hunter A. Scott and Madeleine C. Scott.
