Clarence Lemarr frequently said he was going to live a LONG time and he certainly achieved his goal. He was born on March 31, 1926, in Mayflower, Arkansas and passed from this life on March 10, 2022, at Advanced Healthcare in Garland, just three weeks shy of 96. For a man who lost an eye to a farm accident when he was just thirteen, who survived encephalitis, meningitis (maybe twice), bi-lateral knee replacements, and lymphoma he certainly beat the odds many times. Even Covid pneumonia was no match for Clarence.
Being the fifth of twelve children required Clarence to forgo formal schooling early as he was needed to work on the family farm, beginning his lifelong involvement with gardening and raising animals. He was never without animals, including horses, cows, pigs, donkeys and mules and all manner of fowl, from exotic birds to the humble chicken. After retirement, Clarence filled his days with caring for animals: feeding them, gathering their eggs and even calling on neighborhood customers to sell them fresh eggs. When he wasn’t tending to the animals, he was busy reading the Farmers’ Almanac or poultry catalogs and plotting how to acquire more chickens.
Clarence is preceded in death by his parents, Alvie Lemarr and Lucy "Clem" Lemarr (Sherill); his siblings, Dora Lemarr, Thelma Mae Lemarr, Alfred Lemarr, Albert Arther Lemarr, Alvie Hubert Lemarr, Cecil Lemarr, Tossia Lemarr Crehan, Lemuel Lemarr, Delma Lemarr Cummins; and grandchild Jason Doerr.
Clarence is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary Jane Wade Lemarr, who he met at work at Plastics Manufacturing in Dallas. In addition to his wife, Clarence is survived by children: daughter Lucy Lemarr, stepchildren Michael Doerr (Susan), Carol Betz (Gary), Jay Doerr, and Robert Doerr (Janet); 7 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers Russell Lemarr and Grover Lemarr (Pauline), sisters-in-law Nadine Lemarr, Harolynne Lemarr and numerous nieces and nephews.
