Claude Wade Prewitt Jr.

Claude Wade Prewitt, Jr., 95 passed away on August 31, 2014 in Forney, Texas. Preceded in death by his first wife, Lucille Allen, his second wife Maroulene Prewitt, and his third wife Lois Tripp Prewitt. Also preceded by his brothers Calvin Prewitt, Vernon Prewitt, and Dalton Prewitt. Claude was a devoted father and grandfather and is survived by his children Valdonna Allen, Claude Prewitt and his wife Tish, and John Prewitt and his wife Cynthia. Also survived by his grandchildren Wade Prewitt, Joshua Prewitt, Cara Lustig, Jonathan Prewitt, Donnie Allen, Steven Allen, David Allen, James Allen and their spouses, by 10 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews especially Danny Carpenter and his wife Gay and Shirley Huggins and her husband Henry.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, September 4th at Grove Hill Funeral Home, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, Texas, 75228 and will be officiated by Pastor Tom Hadley. Burial will follow at the nearby Grove Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, September 3rd at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers friends or family may make a memorial donation in his name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Claude was born on December 5, 1918 in Mabank, Texas to Claude Wade Prewitt and Mary Ann Gregory Prewitt. He was a World War II veteran, a lifetime member of International Union of Bricklayers & Allied Craft workers, Local 5-TX and retired from his own masonry contracting business in 1985. Claude was an avid gardener his entire life, who loved to be able to enjoy his own produce. He was a member of Crown of Life Lutheran Church in Rowlett, Texas and was always very involved in church during his lifetime, including his work to help start several churches.
