Cleo served in the US Army for 9 years achieving the rank of Staff Sargent. While in the army he served one tour in Vietnam with the 1st Infantry Division and spent time stationed in California, Oklahoma, Wisconsin, Hawaii, and Colorado. After leaving the army he lived in Wisconsin; Canyon, TX and Amarillo, TX before moving to Mesquite, TX to live with his son.
He is survived by his wife Katherine, son David (K.C.) of Mesquite, TX; daughters Suzette Tippery of Amarillo, TX and Katherine DeMarais of Denton, TX; granddaughters Cydney (Cameron) & Saige (Garret) both of Amarillo, Texas and great-grandsons Remi and Colton. Brother Jack Howell & sisters Donna Ross, Mary Ellen Sykes and Jeannita Higginbotham. Along with numerous nephews, nieces, and close friends.
He is preceded in death by his mother Barbara and father Cleo, his son Edward, brothers Dick Demmick & Jim Howell and sisters Sally Tippery & JoEllen Tippery.
His family would like to thank the staff at Home Care Book and especially Wanika Russell for their loving care of Cleo over the last several years that allowed him to remain at home with his family.
