It is with great sadness but also joy that we announce the passing of Craig Trammell, beloved son, husband, father, and grandfather, who went home to be with the Lord on June 22nd at the age of 66 after a 5 year battle with ALS. Diagnosed with ALS at the early age of 60, he approached his diagnosis with faith and tenacity. He voiced his disappointment about the diagnosis but also spoke of faith and understanding of God's will. He had no fear of death, only concern for those who would mourn his loss. Craig was born on May 18th, 1958 and grew up with a deep love for family, faith, and music.
Craig graduated from Baylor University, where he not only excelled academically but also forged lifelong friendships and cherished memories while in his fraternity, Kappa Omega Tau. His education laid a strong foundation for a life dedicated to service, wisdom, and unwavering faith in God. Craig reconnected with several of his fraternity brothers over the last decade and they have been a significant source of strength, love and friendship during his battle with ALS.
A devoted family man, Craig was a loving son to Drs. Tim and Peggy Trammell, a constant companion to his brother Dr. Stephen Trammell and his wife Stephany, a dedicated husband to Lisa Trammell, a caring father to Scott Trammell and his wife Victoria, and a doting grandfather to "his favorite granddaughter" Teagan Trammell. In addition to his immediate family, he is survived by numerous brother and sister -in-laws, nieces, nephews, and grand- nieces and nephews. His family was his pride and joy, and he relished every moment spent with them. His love for the Lord was evident in the way he lived his life, always showing kindness, generosity, and compassion to those around him.
Craig had a lifelong passion for the Beatles, their music providing a soundtrack to his life's journey. His knowledge of their songs and history was unparalleled, and he enjoyed sharing this passion with family and friends. Whether it was on his front porch at Baylor or in his truck on the way to a duck hunt, Craig's enthusiasm was infectious.
An avid traveler, Craig had a wanderlust that took him to many corners of the world. He believed that traveling was a way to connect with God's creation. After a successful career at Raytheon he took early retirement to address his ALS diagnosis and concentrate on time with those he loved. He was able to make trips with his family to Hawaii, Disney and London.
Craig's legacy is one of love, faith, and joy. He touched the lives of many with his warmth, wisdom, and unwavering belief in the goodness of people. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A celebration of Craig's life will be held at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home with visitation on Friday, June 28th 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. and Funeral service on Saturday, June 29th at 10:00 a.m. with a reception to follow. To view the livestream of the service, please visit - https://vimeo.com/970180413
"Let it be" - the words of his favorite band now serve as a gentle reminder that while Craig is no longer with us in body, his spirit and love will always be with us. May he rest in peace.
