Cristela Salinas was born on September 20, 1978 in Dallas, Texas to Rigoberto and Margarita Salinas. After a long battle with kidney disease, our beloved Cristela went to the arms of Our Lord on May 15, 2021.
Cristela had a love and passion for Art. She was honored by the Dallas Museum of Art for her visual artwork during her years at Greiner Middle School. She graduated Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in 1997 and graduated from Barat College in Lake Forest, IL with degree in Graphic Design in 2001. She moved back to Dallas to be near family and had several work experiences that included Child Protective Services and Dallas ISD.
She lived in Dallas near her parents and loved to spend her time listening to music, watching movies with commentaries and loved to cruise around Dallas and Fort Worth visiting different and unique places.
Cristela was a loving Tia and Godmother and adored her nieces and nephew – Gabrielle, Jalen, Ella and Mia. She loved visiting and spending time with them. “Surprise gifting” was her specialty. They always looked forward to her visits and seeing them smile and laugh was her reward. She loved to watch videos of them and enjoyed their happiness. They loved her kind and free spirit and her enormous smile when she would see them. They loved that she could be silly and loving at the same time.
She had a very kind heart and free spirit, very considerate of all who she befriended.
She enjoyed visiting the beach and loved the calm waters of the lake and ocean and the warm sun.
She was a devout Catholic and shared her last years of worship with St. Augustine and St. Edwards.
Cristela believed in helping everyone and animals. She donated to charities and would feed stray cats and dogs. She enjoyed cuddling next to her boyfriend Eusebio and her four fur babies.
While we are thankful for the time we had with our Cristela, we will all desperately miss her.
She is survived by her parents, Rigoberto and Margarita Salinas; her two sisters Regina Williams and spouse Chris and Margarita Mejia and spouse Nicole and her nieces and nephew, Gabrielle, Jalen, Ella and Mia.
A memorial mass is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at St. Edwards Catholic Church in Dallas, Texas. Following the service, the burial service will be at 3 p.m. at Calvary Hill in Dallas, Texas.
