LUNA, Cynthia Benavides June 9, 1958 - Dec. 26, 2014 Cynthia Benavides Luna (Cindy) went home to the LORD December 26, 2014. She was born June 9, 1958 in Laredo Texas and moved to Dallas at the age of one month. Preceding her in death were her father, Jesus M. and brother, Daniel Benavides. She is survived by her loving husband of 14 years, Rafael Luna, step-daughters Erica and husband Roth Thlang, Jeanette and husband Jonathan Vasquez and Corrina and husband Leo Ramos, mother Gloria Hernandez Benavides, sister Arcie and her husband Randall Adams, and brother David Benavides and his wife Teri. Cindy was a graduate of North Mesquite High School and the University of Texas at Austin where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Advertising with minors in Marketing and Management. Cindy had a very successful 15 year career with Belo and The Dallas Morning News and published La Fuente Magazine before starting her own business, CR Strategic Events Inc. in 2001. Some of her signature events include: Mundo Latino at the State Fair of Texas; Festival Latino at Six Flags Over Texas; Mi Escuelita Cena de la Mariposa and the Quince Girl & Latino Bridal Expos produced in Dallas. Cindy was involved with many local organizations: Advisory Board for Navidad in the Barrio (current board chair), the Advisory Council for DISD General Superintendent, the Dallas County Community College District Foundation, Dallas Center for the Performing Arts Advisory Council to the President, Hispanic 100, Dallas Assembly, Dallas Conven-tion & Visitors Bureau, Hispanic Women's Network of Texas, and the Greater Dallas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Cindy was a loving grandmother to Ryu & Roman Thlang, Andrew & Ava Vasquez and Abigail and Zachary Ramos and a beloved aunt to Kathryn Gordon (her husband Matt and son Wyatt), Josh Adams and Marissa, Gabriela, John and Jacob Benavides. Cindy has many extended family members in Texas, Louisiana, Illinois and California. Cindy was a vibrant and caring person devoted to her family, friends and community. She will be missed. Cindy lived a great life. A Rosary will be prayed on Tuesday, 3pm, at Calvary Hill Funeral Home.
