Cyndi was born on May 18, 1950 in Durango, Colorado to Robert Lucas and Irene Robb Beers who were lifelong residents of Durango and Mancos. She was a devoted daughter and spent several years attending her father in the latter stages of his life. A loving, giving, and faithful wife, best friend, and partner in both good times and bad, she was strong to the end fighting a grave illness. A single sister, Radine Beers Showalter preceded her in passing.
A graduate of Durango High School, in her youth an avid skier and excellent tennis player, she was honest, quick witted, loving, and generous to all. Humor was her mainstay, and she was never at a loss for words or a quick retort. She spent her adult life in Dallas working in property management and was involved in the development of numerous residential and commercial projects ranging from apartment complexes to hotels and sports bars in Texas, Louisiana, California, Minnesota, Ohio, Virginia, and Florida during her career. Although born in the mountains, she loved the sun and the beach, specially, Cancun, Mexico where she and her husband owned property. Visiting there several weeks a year gave her the utmost contentment which she enjoyed as recently as this past December. While there her ring of friends grew earning her the deserved reputation as the “Princess” of the pool area. She and Jerry were married November 3, 1997 on the beach at Sandals Resort, Negril, Jamaica, Growing up in Durango, she spent her summers at Electra Lake where her parents owned a cabin and often referred to it as the largest playground in the world.
In addition to her many friends, survivors include stepdaughters Diana Kupiec and husband Karson of San Diego, California and Caryn Dula of Frisco, Texas. Her seven grandchildren are Carson, Campbell, Quinlan, and Landry Dula, Braeden, Colton, and Dylan Kupiec; brother in law, Dan Thompson, niece Tianna Borowski, her husband, Bill, daughter Marie Jo; nephew Todd Thompson, his wife Xan, and their sons Case and Dayton of the Dallas area; brother in law Greg Phillips and wife Vicky and family of Edmond, Oklahoma; her aunt, Betty Alexander, uncle Noland and cousins Gwen Hawkins and Brent Alexander of Mancos, Colorado, and cousin Gail Moore of Crested Butte, Colorado and their families; niece Andrea Helft and husband Ryan, their children Rebecca, Sam, and Wolfgang of Palo Alto, California; and niece Kate Showalter of Denver, Colorado. Andrea and Gwen gave special comfort to Cyndi in her final days for which she was most grateful.
