Damaris Loyda Arostegui Barello

Damaris Loyda Luisa Arostegui Gregorich was born on August 19, 1947, in Habana, Cuba, to Eduardo Dionisio Arostegui de la O and Loida Luisa Gregorich Sanchez. She grew up in the Santo Suarez neighborhood with her parents and three younger siblings, Jonathan (Kathy), Michelle (Sam), and Eduardo (Celia).

In 1962, her family immigrated to Dallas, Texas. Damaris graduated from Adamson High School and began working at Sanger Harris, where she met her husband of fifty-four years, Danny Nino Barello. They married in 1971 and spent their early years as “hippies,” traveling to San Francisco and Mexico before settling in Duncanville and later Lewisville, Texas, to raise their children: Dean, Maritza, Aurelia, Loreli, and Marcos.

Damaris was known for her accounting skills and her loyalty as an employee of FoxMeyer and later McKesson, where she worked for over thirty years. She built many lifelong friendships at work and enjoyed staying active even after retirement.

She loved taking cruises and visiting the beach with family and friends. Her home was always bright with flamingos, Cuban touches, and souvenirs from her travels. She delighted in sharing her family’s history with younger generations and cousins, and she brought joy to every gathering with her dancing and singing. Her greatest happiness came from her grandchildren: Anais Ene, Elijah, Mateo, and Vicente Arostegui, and Maximo and Julieta Lopez.

On August 30, 2025, Damaris was welcomed into heaven by her daughter Aurelia, her son Dean, her parents Eduardo and Loida, and many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A visitation will be held on September 13th, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Laurel Land Funeral Home in Dallas, TX. A funeral service will be held on September 13th, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Laurel Land Funeral Home in Dallas, TX with committal to follow at Laurel Land Memorial Park at 3:00 PM. A reception will be held at Laurel Land Funeral Home on September 13th, 2025 from 4:00 - 5:00 PM.

Guests are welcome to bring additional food to the reception if desired.
