

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 26th at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 9643 Ferndale Rd, Dallas, TX 75238. Rosary begins at 9:30 A.M. prior to the service.
Dan was born to Paul and Irene Lonergan in Bloomfield, NE. The family moved to St. Louis, MO where he was raised.
Immediately upon high school graduation, he was drafted and served in the US Army during World War II. At the young age of 18, he performed the duty of prison guard in Leavenworth, KS.
Dan graduated from Drake University in Des Moines, IA and went to work for General Cable Corporation. He was transferred to Dallas, TX in 1954 where he met his beautiful bride Margaret, made his home, and raised his family.
He was a founding member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and helped build the community from the start. Raising his family at St. Patrick was important to him. As a dedicated parishioner, he found tremendous joy in serving God and helping others. Dan served as an usher and Eucharistic Minister in the church and was an active member of the Parish Council, Knights of Columbus and Society of St. Vincent DePaul. He also volunteered at parish carnivals and participated in building the Christmas nativity. He frequently said “yes” whenever help was needed.
Dan was a devoted family man. Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 69 years Margaret Lonergan; three daughters Mary Ann Marzec (Mark) of Katy, TX, Janet Cuellar (Kyle) of Weston Lakes, TX, Diane Phillips (Craig) of Alpharetta, GA. Two sons, Jim Lonergan (Allison) of Cedar Park, TX, Bobby Lonergan (Kristin) of Dallas,TX. Twelve grandchildren, Mary Clare Marzec (deceased), Clark Marzec, Luke Lonergan, Zachary Lonergan, Brandon Cuellar, Russell Cuellar, Meredith Phillips, Carter Phillips, Grant Phillips, Sophie Lonergan, Chloe Lonergan, Faith Lonergan. Seven great grandchildren, Pyper Lonergan, Liam Lonergan, Shiloh Lonergan, Honey Jo Lonergan, Beck Cuellar, Hayden Cuellar, Quinn Cuellar. Dan has one surviving brother, Paul Ross Lonergan who is 101 years old.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Sunrise Senior Living in Katy, TX for their compassion and for helping to make a difficult time more manageable.
