

Denise Marie Marino Ball Hopchik Beloved wife, mother, sister and fiercely loyal friend was called Home Friday, November 14, 2014 from complications of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) in Plano Texas.
Denise was born August 16, 1949 in Cleveland, Ohio to Carmen J. and Lenore Marino. She attended Thomas Jefferson High
School in Pittsburgh, PA, and graduated from Barat College of the Sacred Heart, Lake Forest Ill. For nearly four decades, she was a passionate and highly competent executive in the temporary staffing industry. Her main philanthropy was The Family Place, a shelter for abused women and children.
She was preceded in death by mother Lenore Marino and father Carmen J. Marino, husbands, Louis Zammataro (1979), and James M Ball Jr (2006).
She is survived by Husband Harlan R. Hopchik, two brothers, Carmen M. and Lucien R. Marino, two nieces Amy Petriaev and Suzy Urban, Stepson and Daughter-in law James M. Ball III and Iris Ball, Step-Daugher and Son-in-law Cheri A. Ball-Meza and Roberto L Meza, and grandchildren Jennifer M. Ball, Elena T. Muscarella, Jean A. Ball-Meza, Courtney B. Ball-Meza, and James R. Ball-Meza.
Denise was a kind and gentle soul who worked hard to see the best in everyone and was a calming, comfortable influence on 3 generations of family. In her own way, and without discord she followed the path of peacemaker, and as her influence inevitably took hold, all who paid attention learned vital life lessons they can carry with them for all time. She left a hole that can never be filled and will be sorely missed by all who loved her.
The funeral will be at Sparkman Hillcrest on NW Highway at 4 pm on Monday, Nov. 17, 2014, with a viewing prior to the funeral from 1:30-3:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation to The Family Place or the ALS Foundation.
