Derlene Webbs

Derlene Webbs started celebrating her heavenly birthday with Jesus and her husband Walter on February 23, 2023, following a brief battle with Covid-19. Derlene was born in Vernon, Texas on May 26, 1937, bringing great joy to the home of Darrell and Mandy Henson, and the joyful flow has not slackened since then. She attended Northside High School through the 10th grade and graduated from Vernon High School in 1954, where she formed a very special relationship with a group that continues to this day. Derlene enjoyed planning many gatherings with the group and they would laugh and enjoy long ago memories.

Derlene graduated from North Texas University in 1958 with a degree in Accounting, and then pursued a career with Communication Industries Inc. (both in Corpus Christi and Dallas). Derlene met Walter Webbs - her soulmate and husband - in November 1968, and they were married on November 26, 1970. They spent the remainder of their life sharing much jubilation and joy as a married couple. They enjoyed spending time together and were always going on adventures. It was during one of these adventures (as she called them) that Walter was introduced to the gospel and he gave his life over to the Lord - and then things got even better.

Derlene loved playing all kind of games (especially bridge) with her friends. She and Walter were also regulars of the CARE GROUP at Northwest Bible Church which she attended with Walter for many years.

Derlene is survived by her brother, Harrold Henson and his wife, Ruth. She also takes pride in her nephews, David Henson (and wife Sherise) and Keith Henson, and several grand-nephews and nieces.

A graveside service for Derlene will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at DFW National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy., Dallas, TX, 75211. A memorial service will occur at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 3, 2023, at Northwest Bible Church, 8505 Douglas Ave., Dallas, TX, 75225.
