As an elementary school student, Desmond, Jr. attended KIPP Academy and Dallas Independent School District (ISD) public schools. Upon his transition into junior high school, he was then transferred to DeSoto ISD public schools, where he ultimately graduated from DeSoto High School in May of 2021. After completing high school, Desmond enrolled in Texas Barber College and earned his certificate of completion in September of 2023. He continued to sharpen his business acumen and expand his skill set by obtaining security licenses and being hired by Allied Security services.
The entirety of Desmond’s life was impacted by the call of Christ. During infancy, he was Christened at 6 months old at Good Hope MBC. Continuing in the Lord’s favor, Desmond went on to accept Christ as his Lord and Savior at 5 years old with the congregation of Greater Ideal MBC as his witnesses. Desmond was then united with the body of Christ at Greater Ebenezer Missionary Bible Church at the age of 7, and he went on to attend children’s church, to serve in the children’s choir, and to serve in the miming ministry. Desmond continued to be a member of Greater Ebenezer MBC throughout his life.
In his leisure time, Desmond, affectionately known as Dezz and Fat Mack, enjoyed making other people laugh (by any means necessary). Pulling pranks, joking around, and dancing characterized Desmond in the eyes of those that had the privilege of knowing and loving him. Desmond invested in and sewed seeds of joy not only in the lives of others, but within his own life as well, and one area that piqued his interest was rapping. He lived to the beat of his own drum, and he rapped his own music. This was just one way that he leaned into the things that brought him the most joy in life.
Not only was Desmond a man of great joy, but he was also a man who valued relationships with his loved ones. This was especially true for his most prized possession, his son, Carter. Fatherhood was an aspect of life that both excited Desmond and made him proud, as demonstrated by how active he was in Carter’s life. Desmond was an exceptional father who loved his son profoundly and unconditionally. Desmond’s humor, commitment to fatherhood, love for his family, and joyful spirit could never be compared. He will be remembered as a loving, loyal, funny, and dedicated man.
