Rusty Moore, age 75, passed away in Naperville, IL, on August 4, 2025 following a long battle with glioblastoma brain cancer.
Rusty was born on August 14, 1949 in Mount Vernon, TX. Beloved husband of his wife Jennifer, loving father to Heather Russo and devoted PaPa to Juliana, Adrienne and Natalie Russo.
He is survived by his three sisters, Angie Freeman, Melinda Kaufman and her husband Marc Kaufman, and Amy Nelson and her husband Rick Nelson. Also survived by his beloved Uncle Dale Moore, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Rusty was a 2019 honors graduate of DTS with a MBTS degree. He was a career professional of the investment services industry. Rusty earned his BBA from Southern Methodist University and held a postgraduate SMU Certificate in Financial Planning. He was a Registered Investment Advisor, a Certified Estate Planner and a Certified Kingdom Advisor offering a Biblical perspective to estate planning and investment management.
Rusty served on the Boards of Directors of two life insurance companies and a NASDAQ publicly traded company and several private companies. He began his career in Dallas with Henry S. Miller Companies in commercial real estate. Rusty served for many years on the Board of Advisors of MentorLink International. He had a passion for mentoring and discipleship.
Rusty loved the outdoors and enjoyed recreational hunting and fishing, especially at the farm in Mount Vernon. He treasured moments of fun and celebration with his family. He was an avid learner of the Bible and loved to study theology. He also treasured his opportunities to travel to Israel on study tours. He passionately shared his faith throughout his life.
