Dollie Rowell Knoerr

Dollie Knoerr, age 64, of Mesquite, Texas passed away on Tuesday February 6, 2018. Dollie was born January 21, 1954 to the proud parents Wallace Rowell and Marion Rowell in Shreveport, LA. Dollie and her parents moved to Mesquite when she was 5. Dollie is survived by her loving husband Mike Knoerr, cousins Connie Smithpeter of Shreveport and Linda Hay of Shreveport, aunt Mary Joyce Grover of Nixa, MO and uncle James A. Rowell of Brandon, MS.

Dollie is a retired preschool music teacher and loved her students. They would "hug her down" as she would often say. She lived by the saying that "it does not matter what kind of car I drive, but that I mattered in the life of a child". She shared her love of Christ with each of the children loving them by example and instruction.

Prior to becoming a preschool teacher, Dollie worked with her parents in the office of automobile dealerships doing everything in the office for several years form cashiering to working deal sheets to becoming office manager.

Dollie has many talents and was very talented. She could bake cookies, make fudge, make rolls which were the hit of family gatherings, decorate cakes, tune carburetors (twin SU carburetors on her AH Sprite), knit, do calligraphy and counting cross stitch. Not only was she talented, but she was very smart having scored 30 on the ACT as a junior in high school and typically ruining the class curve on exams, had a keen memory and lots of wisdom... quite a combination!

She married the love of her life in 1973 and shared that love for the rest of her life.

Dollie will be remembered most for her sweet smile. Despite a multitude of health issues and pain (which few knew), she always had a smile for those around her. She believed that other people did not need to bear the brunt of her infirmities or pain, but deserved a smile to brighten their day. She will be missed greatly by all who knew her.

A visitation for Dollie will be held Sunday, February 11, 2018 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Grove Hill Funeral Home, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, TX 75228. Her funeral service will be Monday, February 12, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Grove Hill Funeral Home.
