It is with great sadness, we announce the passing of Dominga V. Mendez, our loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to all whose lives she touched. Our family lost a matriarch, but heaven gained an angel. It would be wrong to say that Dominga lost her battle because she never stopped fighting. No matter how sick she was, she was always determined. When anyone else would have broken, Dominga stayed strong. Through her, we know what resilience and perseverance truly look like.
Dominga was born in Seguin, Texas but later moved to Dallas, Texas where she had two children and settled into her forever home. She was the beloved mother of Yolanda and Felix, proud grandmother of 8 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. She lived a full life as a wonderful strong-willed lady. She loved to garden and sew. She also loved to go to the baile and dance all night and then wake up and go to the food pantry where she collected food to distribute to her sisters out of town. And last but not least she loved to collect anything and everything she could get her hands on. Most of all she loved her family and friends and instilled good values in her children and grandchildren that have served them well. Time may pass and fade away but memories of you will always stay. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
A celebration of Dominga’s life will be held Thursday, September 15, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Laurel Land Funeral Home, 6300 South R.L., Thornton Freeway, Dallas, TX 75232.
