No one can ever replace this humanitarian, who  loved, sacrificed 
and supported the Dr. Barbara Jordan Elementary School and community. I am truly thankful for our time, and pray that her example be replicated for years to come.

Words are not enough during this time as you miss the one that is gone so my prayers are that God give you strength. I met Donna when I was a teacher at Barbara Jordan ES, but she quickly became a GREAT friend. I will always remember her SMILE. It was infectious. Her laughter was one of a kind, but the love for her family especially her children was IMMENSE. She talked about them all the time, and how proud she was to be their mother. I will miss her, but her smile, laughter, and personality will remain with us as she left a BEAUTIFUL and SPECIAL mark in all OUR lives.

It is often said, "weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning." In this celebration of life, my reflection is upon the friendship Donna and I shared as friends. From our young age in grade school up until adulthood. Our friendship reminds me of a passage of scripture from Songs of Solomon 8:6, "Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm: for love is strong as death". When I reflect upon those words, I am often reminded in moments like this, it feels as though death is wrong. You look around and everybody you love, and everybody you can count on, everybody you can trust seems to be slipping through your fingers, and it feels like death is wrong. Somewhere I read, 2000 years ago, on a hill called Calvary death thought it had the victory over Love when they hung Him high and stretched Him wide. When they drove nails in his hands and pierced him in His side, Love dropped his head in the locks of his shoulders, death ran partying all night Friday and all-night Saturday. But early Sunday morning, at the break of dawn, the thunder roared, and the skies cried out because Love got up with all power in his hands. Because of Love’s resurrecting power, death was snatched up in victory. Because of love resurrecting power the sting of death was swallowed up. Because of Love’s resurrecting power,  the Saints of God stand on their faith, knowing fully well, "to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord".  Your tears may flow, Love will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying nor pain anymore for the former things have passed away. I love you my friend, R.I.P.
