Dorothy Jean Jackson was born on July 12, 1921 at Gorman, Texas to Richard Ivey Jackson and Mary Treacie Capers Jackson. She graduated from Noodle High School in Noodle, Jones County, Texas in 1939. After graduating from high school, Dorothy moved to Wichita, Kansas to attend Gale's Business School; from there, she returned to Noodle and started working at the local gin. She worked there until the United States entered World War II at which time; she secured a job at Abilene Air Force Base in Abilene, Texas where she worked until 1945. She then moved to Dallas and worked at the Veterans Administration until 1948 when she moved back to Abilene and on January 9, 1949 went to work for Western Cotton Oil Company. After working there a few years, she went to work for Union Oil of California on February 25, 1952 in Abilene, Texas. Union Oil transferred her to Roswell, New Mexico in February, 1958; and then to Midland, Texas in January, 1975 where she worked until she retired July 31, 1983. Upon retiring from Union Oil of California, Dorothy moved to Dallas, Texas to enjoy her retirement with her friends. Dorothy enjoyed volunteering and working with children at her church during the time that she was in Roswell, New Mexico. She was a member of Park Cities Baptist Church in Dallas where she continued to be a member until her death. She loved her family and friends with all of her heart. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Richard Carl Jackson (Nanilea) and Freddie Lee Jackson (Margaret); sisters, Eunice Jackson Burnett(Otis) and Lois Jackson Spradlin(Carter); nephews, Richard Carl Jackson, Jr., Freddie Cecil Jackson, and Richard Lee Jackson; nieces, Bobbie Burnett Gribble, Dorothy Lynn Gribble, LaVerta Spradlin Wood, and Jean Spradlin Worley. Survivors: Nephews: Donald Otis Burnett and Jerry Lee Spradlin; Nieces: Phyllis Spradlin Prince and Joellen Jackson Myrick. Numerous nephews and nieces and longtime friend, Nora Loveland. Memorials may be made to: West Texas Rehabilitation of Abilene.
