Dorothy was born in Hutto, Texas on July 20, 1924 and was raised on the family farm by her parents Elof and Elsie Gustafson, along with her two sisters, Katherine Brooks and Betty Yeager. She graduated valedictorian from Hutto High School, attended Midwestern University in Wichita Falls, Texas, and went to work for the Quartermaster General at the Pentagon in Washington, DC. She met Mark C. Mount Jr. in Dallas, Texas and they married in June of 1948 and had two children, Patricia and David.
In addition to being a dedicated and loving mother, Dorothy was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Dallas for over 70 years, a long time member of UMW, and a former president of North Dallas Women’s Club. She was a fabulous cook, a second mother to many, and most importantly, had an unwavering faith in God.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Patricia Davis (husband Robert), her son, David Mount (wife Alisa), four grandchildren, Caroline (husband John Albea), Mark Davis, Kenneth Mount, Kathleen Mount; and a great grandson, Wyatt Albea. She is also survived by her nephew Gary Brooks, (wife Chris), and their children; her brother-in-law, Hal Yeager; her niece Amy Galvin, (husband Bill), and their children. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Mark, and her two sisters. We extend our love and gratitude to her caregiver/friend of 10 years Patsy Beaird Woodson, as well as the staff at The Avenues of Park Forest.
Visitation will be held at Sparkman Hillcrest on Sunday afternoon from 4-6 pm. A service will follow on Monday, January 4th at 2:00 pm at Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home.
