Dorothy Jean Richburg, 83, died Saturday August 6, 2022, at her residence in Plano, Texas.
Dorothy was born February 5, 1939, in Monette, Arkansas to Clifford Foster Martin, Sr. and Willie Mae Martin. Dorothy loved reading, going to church, and providing for her family. Dorothy lived most of her life in the Dallas, Texas area. Living at times in Oak Cliff, then Richardson, and Plano, she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Richardson and later regularly attended First Baptist Church of Plano.
A 1956 graduate of W.H. Adamson high school, Dorothy studied business at Rutherford Metropolitan Business College before starting work at Crosby Valve and Gauge Company in Dallas, Texas. Her business studies, typing and shorthand skills served her later in life where she owned and ran the Richburg Insurance Agency. Always hard-working, Dorothy became a widow suddenly after the loss of her second husband, Jay Richburg. With five children, she obtained insurance licensing, handled estate matters, and learned how to run the insurance agency Jay established. She was a long-time member of the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA) where her chapter named her business woman of the year.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Daniel Goss, David Goss, and Lara Richburg-Rodriguez; stepchildren Kyle Richburg and Karen Somma; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and her sister Lottie Vaughn.
Dorothy was preceded in death by brothers Robert Martin, Clifford Foster Martin, Jr., Frank Martin, and Fred Martin; her husband Jay Richburg; and her granddaughter Abigail Belen Rodriguez
