Douglas (Doug) Thomas Stone Sr., a Dallas native, born March 27, 1923 passed away Sept 9, 2013. He attended Sacred Heart Elementary School and St. Joseph High School. After serving in World War II, Doug returned to Dallas and graduated from Southern Methodist University with a Mechanical Engineering degree. He obtained a Professional Engineer status and enjoyed a very successful career in his field. Doug was extremely involved in the local chapter as well as the national organization for the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and was honored as a Fellow by the organization. He obtained 7 patents throughout his career.
Preceded in death by his parents, Barney and Gladys L. Stone and his brother, Edward (Eddie) B. Stone. Survived by his wife of 66 years, Jo Ann Wyatt Stone, their 5 children, Cathy Stone Greener and husband Ronnie, D. Thomas Stone Jr. and wife Cathy Stone, Therese Stone Ryan, Charlie Stone and Dee Stone Cassell as well as 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grand children.
The Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at Christ the King Catholic Church located at 8017 Preston Road, Dallas, TX 75225. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Alzheimer’s Association.
