Edna Mae J. Hart, 101, passed away on May 19, 2022. Edna was born on November 15, 1920 to Andrew Jackson and Amogene McFerren. She was a homemaker and avid genealogist. In pursuit of finding her family histories, she traveled to the National Archives in Washington, DC and LDS Library in Salt Lake City, old cemeteries and many county basements looking for genealogical treasurers.
During her life she worked at TEC for 25 years, was a member of Daughters of the Revolution, Dallas Historical Society, Dallas County Pioneers Pres 1987, Braniff Women’s Auxillary and Braniff Retirement Club. She was elected to serve in Austin for the First TX Silver Haired Legislature 1986-1988 and Sr. Affairs Committee city of Dallas. Edna achieved her Associates Degree at Dallas College El Centro Campus and graduated Magna Cum Laude.
Edna is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Eugene Hart of 48 years, parents Andrew Jackson and Amogene McFerren and son, Charles Eugene Hart, Jr. of Austin, TX.
She is survived by her son William Andrew Hart (Pam) of Argyle, TX; her grandchildren John Hart (Anne Marie) of Los Gatos, CA; Charlyn Hart (Salim) of Boston, MA; Valerie Millegan (Jason) of Salado, TX; Kristen McDaniel (Christopher) of Keller, TX ; Andrew Hart of Charleston, SC and eight grand children.
Services will be held at Laurel Land Funeral Home in Dallas on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at 10:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Freedom Hospice or The Episcopal Church of the Annunciation of Annunciation of Lewisville.
