Edward George Schiermann passed away peacefully on February 20, 2018 at Medical City Hospital. Born on November 3, 1922 in Carlyle, he moved to St. Louis as a young man and was drafted into military service for World War II. He returned to St. Louis after the war and found his professional calling as a salesman. He applied his trade to pretzels, working delivery routes for Roll Gold in St. Louis before relocating to Dallas in 1969, where acquiring company Frito-Lay groomed him for managerial duties. He rose to national sales manager for US private label business, logging over a million air miles travelling the country. His retirement in 1983 brought on the next phase of his life in which he avidly pursued golf and wood working.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Amy Gertrude Schiermann, to whom he was married for 71 years, and by his sister Alice Hustedde. He is survived by his brother, Cletus Schiermann, his sister-in-law Viola Butler, both of St. Louis, and numerous nieces and nephews, including Robert Schiermann for whom he had a special affinity. He was a long time member of St. Monica’s Catholic Church where he served as usher and Eucharistic minister. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Monica's Catholic Church.
