Eleanor Harris Morris was born on December 26th (her choice never to disclose the year) in Walnut Springs, Texas, and left this life the way she lived it - with beauty, dignity and grace. On Monday, April 18, 2016, she returned to arms of her one true love, George. She graduated Valedictorian from Walnut Springs High School and moved on to her beloved University of Texas in Austin. Here, her unassuming beauty earned her the rare vote among her peers to be one of six Bluebonnet Beauties. She would soon meet the love of her life, George Cooper Morris, whom she married after they both graduated from the University of Texas. Married life took them to Washington, D.C. during the war, as George was a proud Naval Intelligence Officer. They returned to Texas after the war. In Dallas, they built a successful business together with which she was heavily involved. She continued running it after George passed away in 2000, and right up until she was admitted to the hospital last week. Ellie, as we called her, only loved one thing less than her family (and on some days it might have been more) - Longhorn Football. She knew every player, every stat and every play. There were games where she would yell out so many plays (some better than what was being played) that it was suggested she should have a direct line to the field. Ellie was the smartest, fiercest and most loving mother and grandmother anyone would have been fortunate to have…but she was ours and we loved her with every fiber of our being…Goodnight Ellie, but not Goodbye…
Eleanor is survived by her daughter Susan and husband Rick Russell; son George Cooper Morris, Jr.; granddaughter Melissa Morris-Radoe and husband Dave, Elizabeth Brannian and Rebecca Brannian; step grandsons Chase Russell and Tiller Russell; her great-grandson Cooper Radoe; and brother Bill Harris and wife, Roberta. We are forever thankful for the wonderful Carol, who helped our entire family care for our little love, Ellie.
There will be a Memorial Service for Eleanor at Highland Park Presbyterian Church in the Wynne Chapel on Thursday, April 21, at 2:00 p.m.
