Emmett will be missed in our church and in our community. He never missed acknowledging a kind thought or word spoken on his behalf, and never missed an opportunity to say or do kind things for others.  He was like a big teddy bear, quietly supporting those near him.  We look forward to seeing you again some day, big guy!

Emmett was our neighbor, our best friend,  and my boss for over 20 years.  We always sought each other's  help in our projects and problems.  He was the most honest, helpful, kind, and faithful person I have known.  We will really miss his smiling face.

Emmett is missed by his church family at Lakeside United Methodist Church in Streetman, TX.   We miss his smiling face as usher and his discussion in Sunday School.  We were blessed to have gotten to know him and call him our friend!

Emmitt was truly a very special friend. In my early days of attending our church he always saved a space for me to sit next to him. I often held his hymnal for him so that we could both sing  because there  were times when he  was shaking so much he could not read the words. Emmitt always had the time to listen for those that needed someone to talk to. Emmitt will dearly be missed in our church and community always having a smile on his face and a hug when needed. I love you Emmitt and God already had a place for you because you earned your  Angel wings before joining Kitty in heaven.

I am so very sorry for the loss of your Father, brother, uncle and friend.   Emmitt was our roofing consultant and was always such a kind person and he will be missed so very much.  He always talked about how much he loved and missed Kitty, his beloved wife.  My thoughts, prayers and concerns are with all of you at this very difficult time.

You were always thoughtful and had many many friends.   Your job was perfect, because you got to travel and see some of our Country’s most beautiful places and wonderful food.   I can still see the excitement on your face the morning you left to inspect a roof.   It was the last but you got to do what you loved.    Enjoy this next journey.   God bless!!    Choo Choo!    

I knew Emmet mostly thru His membership at Lakeside United Methodist Church and I never knew a kinder and more thoughtful person., Emmet truly lived His Christian life and He will be missed very much. Carole Stubblefield

Pat’s and I are Emmett‘s neighbors and we’ve known him for over 10 years. We’ve  never known a more wonderful man. I would do things with Kitty from time to time-she was an avid reader and really recommended some great books.  I used to type up invoices for Emmett after Kittydied for his business.  We will miss Emmett-he and Kitty have made our lives so much richer for knowing them. Heaven got a good one !

When you’re lucky enough to have a job that provides a service to the public and you don’t really know most of your customers, it’s amazing how much you get a feel for a person in a transaction that’s a short minute or two. I didn’t know anything about Emmitt when he came into the office the first time but after he left I knew I had just seen a kind person. A good person. The world seemed better. 

Emmett was my neighbor and we will miss him greatly. He was without a doubt the kindest, sweetest man I’ve ever known. We have our share difficult people but we don’t have nearly enough people like Emmett. He always had the time and the interest to care and help out when needed. 
Our neighborhood and our church just won’t be the same without Emmett. He was a guiding light for both. 


A brother and friend, may he rest in peace in the arms of Mary and Jesus. 


Uncle Emmett was an awesome loving Uncle.     I will have wonderful memories to cling to.    He will be missed.    Cynthia Skeen
