Ernest Eugene “Gene” Stockdale passed away peacefully on October 19, 2021, in Dallas, TX, at the age of 90 years old. He was born to Alfred Ernest Stockdale and Mildred Stevens Stockdale on June 16, 1931, in Dallas, TX.
After raising his family in East Dallas, he and his sweetheart of 58 years, Wanda Orrill Stockdale, enjoyed many happy years of retirement in Rockwall, TX, living on Lake Ray Hubbard as their 5 grandchildren grew.
Gene was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Orrill Stockdale, in 2010 and his daughter, Annette Dee Stockdale Bateman, in 2011. He is survived by two daughters, Debbie Stockdale Springer and her husband Terry Mac Springer, of Dallas, TX; and Cindy Stockdale White and her husband Dane White, of Murfreesboro, TN; and by son Barry Stockdale and his wife Kathryn Shrum Stockdale, of Dallas, TX. He is also survived by his 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be at 2:00 pm Sunday, October 24th, at Sparkman-Hillcrest. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his name to Genesis Women’s Shelter (4411 Lemmon Ave #201, Dallas, TX 75219) or Austin Street Center (2929 Hickory St, Dallas, TX 75226).
