

Ethel Beatrice Bobo Thompson was born on November 27,1949 to the late Robert and Ethel Banks Bobo in Joiner, Arkansas. She departed this life on Sunday, January 3, 2021, peacefully in her home surrounded by family.
Ethel was baptized at an early age and became a member of the Philadelphia Baptist Church in Crowville, Louisiana. After moving to Dallas, Texas she joined the Japonica Missionary Baptist Church where for more than thirty years she was a faithful member serving as President of the Mission Department, church announcer, BTU Teacher, Mission Teacher and on the Program Committee. Her greatest joy of service to the Lord came from singing in the Japonica Church Choir.
Ethel graduated from Waverly High School in Crowville, Louisiana in 1967. She attended Delta Vocational Technical School in Monroe and completed the Electronic and Electrical Technology Program. Ethel worked in retail sales for over thirty years in women’s shoes as her specialty. She worked as assistant manager, store manage and earned numerous awards and accolades from Wohl Shoe Company.
It was at Delta Vocational Technical School where Ethel met Terry Thompson. They united in marriage for over 35 years on April 23, 1979 and they have two sons: Richard and Terry.
Ethel is preceded in death by her parents, Robert, and Ethel Banks Bobo.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband Terry L. Thompson of DeSoto, Texas; two sons Richard (Andrea) Thompson of Carrollton, Texas; Terry LeCarlton Thompson of Dallas, Texas; four grandchildren Diangelo Thompson (whom she raised as a son)(Aissetou), Tiffany Thompson, Tory Thompson, Ashley Mundine; three sisters, Lena (Robert) Caughran, of Monroe, Louisiana; Bobby (Nelson) Taylor of DeSoto, Texas and Jacqueline Bobo of Little Elm, Texas; five brothers, Willie (Velma) Bobo of Crowville, Louisiana; Larry ( Jonell) Bobo, of Monroe, Louisiana; Eddie (Deborah) Bobo of Magnolia, Arkansas; Charles (Lena) Bobo of Ozan, Arkansas and Frank ( Jerlyn) Bobo of Monroe, Louisiana. She also leaves to cherish her memory of 9 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
