Wade married his high school sweetheart, Mary Emma Gay on September 1, 1948, and made Dallas, Texas their home. They had a beautiful daughter, Peggy Lynn Anderson Heil, born on April 25, 1957. Wade was a faithful employee of Vought Aircraft Industries from December 1948 until retirement in August 1984. During his tenure at Vought, Wade built aircraft, and received a Crusader Award for Performance Improvement in 1974. Following his retirement, Wade and Mary enjoyed extensive travel together, hobbies, and a love for old cars.
Wade was a longtime member of the “Vought Retirees Club,” where he and other retirees restored antique Vought war airplanes for display in museums. He was most proud of his last restoration, a V-173 Flying Pancake, which today can be found at the Frontiers of Flight Museum, located at Dallas Love Field.
Wade is survived by his sister, Ruth Vanlandingham of Norman, Oklahoma, and sister-in-law, Billie Anderson of Plano, Texas, along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Emma Gay Anderson; daughter, Peggy Lynn Anderson Heil; father, Henry Anderson; mother, Nancy Anderson; sisters, Violet Berry and Romi Mendenhall; and brother, Dale Anderson.
Wade’s family would like to thank the Neuro 5th Floor ICU at Methodist Dallas for their compassionate and loving care during his short stay. The doctors, nurses, patient care techs, and the sitters went above and beyond to keep Wade comfortable.
A celebration service will be held, in honor of Wade, on Thursday, February 24, 2022, at 10:00 am in the Chapel at Laurel Land Funeral Home, located at 6300 South R.L. Thornton Frwy., Dallas, Texas 75232.
