

Fayetta Mary Gannon passed away on July 23, 2010, at her home. She was born on January 27, 1933, in Wichita Falls, Texas, the daughter of Clair H. Gannon and Fayetta Gilbough Gannon. Both of her parents were from pioneering Texas families. She attended Ursuline Academy in Dallas, Texas, and was a member of the Class of 1951, the first graduating class from the present campus. She attended Maryville College of the Sacred Heart in St. Louis, Missouri, and later received her BA from The University of Texas at Austin, where she was a member of the Chi Omega sorority. She worked as an administrative assistant for the administrators of the Dallas County Hospital District (Parkland Memorial Hospital) during the time of the Kennedy assassination. She later served as regional office assistant for the Region 7 office of the American Hospital Association. She was past president of the Altar Society of Christ the King Church where she was a charter member of the parish. She was also past president of the Christ Child Society, a charitable organization for infants founded by her grandmother, Mrs. E.J. Gannon in the early 1900’s. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Frederic G. Gannon. She is survived by her brother, Clair H. Gannon, Jr. and sister-in-law, Bitsy Trigg Gannon, of Hillsboro, Texas; seven nieces and nephews, Tori Clark of Dallas, Texas, Clair Gannon III, of Dallas, Texas, Mary Gannon of Phoenix, Arizona, Jack Gannon of Hillsboro, Texas, Sisi Brewer of Waco, Texas, Annetta Prudhomme of Houston, Texas and Patrick Gannon of Dallas, Texas and many grand nieces and nephews. Recitation of the Rosary and visitation will be held at 8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 26, 2010, at the chapel of Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 27, 2010, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 8017 Preston Road, Dallas, Texas. Interment will follow at Calvary Hill Cemetery.
