Francisco was an incredibly loving, kind, intelligent man who believed (and taught us all) that every person is another human being deserving of kindness and respect. He loved his family very much and provided for them in every way. He enjoyed designing and working with machinery and metals, and often sculpted artwork or jewelry out of metal. His work ethic was unmatched and he willingly shared his knowledge and skills with all those around him.
Javier, as he was known to many, worked as a Mechanical and Electrical Engineer at McCormick for over 38 years. There, he was known as an honest, hard working man who was highly regarded for his integrity and technical expertise. He was loved and respected by his coworkers whom he considered family. For many years, Francisco was also a well-known “Locutor” (Radio Broadcaster) on Spanish language radio stations KESS, and then Radio Variedades here in Dallas. He was treasured by all who knew him!
In his spare time, he loved being with his family, either barbecuing on the grill or watching his beloved Dallas Cowboys! He loved the Cowboys, the Texas Rangers, as well as international soccer. He also loved music, especially classical music and “the oldies.”
Francisco never met a stranger, and he was known for always offering to help others, whether it be changing a tire in the rain or installing floor tiles or a fence for a neighbor. He offered his expert skills, advice, love, and support to anyone he met, simply because he cared. He gave from his heart and always made you feel special.
This wonderful man could frequently be found in the first row at countless school programs, concerts, and events; he was consistently there for his beloved grandchildren. He made time to either have lunch with them or take them to fun places after work, even after having been up since 4am. He made going with his grandkids to get gasoline or visiting the hardware store an adventure!
Francisco loved the holidays, with Thanksgiving and Christmas being his favorites. He was a humble man who was grateful for everything he had in his life. He was a especially proud of and devoted to his beloved wife, children, and grandchildren, who adored their dear “Abuelo.”
Francisco is survived by his cherished wife, Hilda, and his children: Israel J. Rubio (married to Melissa), Genaro Rubio (married to Rebecca), and Yvonne L. Barlow (married to Donald). He is also survived by his brother, Jose Antonio "Pepe" Rubio and his wife, Esperanza, their children: Nancy Williams and her children, as well as Betsy Pacheco (married to Giovanny) and their children. Francisco is also survived by his 2 loving sisters: Maria Carmen (married to Arturo) and their children, and Sylvia, and her children. Survivors include his loving mother in law, Georgina Pezzat, as well as his sisters and brother in law: Elsa Woodard, Ana Dixon (married to Steve), and brother in law: Salvador Noble (married to Alejandra). He had many precious nieces and nephews as well as his wonderful grandchildren including Adrian Rubio, Brandon Weber, Jr., Donovan, Dominic, Elias, Deiza, Tony, Genaro, Jr., as well Zachary and Madison Rubio.
We will all miss Francisco very, very much. His legacy of love and kindness will live forever in our hearts and minds, as well as those of everyone who knew him.
