

Born August 28, 1920 in Sulphur Springs, Texas to Margie and Elzy Hargrave. The third of six girls. Freda was hearing impaired. She attended Austin School for the deaf and after graduating she came to Dallas and married George G. Davis. They met in Austin at the school for the deaf.
Freda worked for Higginbotham Bailey and Sons for ten years, as well as Rob Jones Upholstering. She and her husband George then opened their own interior decorating business and specialized in upholstery, slip covers, and draperies.
Freda continued their business after George passed away in 1956 for 28 years. In 1990, Freda began volunteering six days a week for Disciples of Holy Trinity (DOT), a charity aiding terminally ill individuals needing help to live and die with dignity, until December 2014.
Freda is survived by three children: daughter Georgia Anne Davis, son and daughter-in-law Mike and Diane Davis, and son Jim Davis. She has two sisters Zelma McCullough (age 100) of Sulphur Springs and Thelma Shrode (age 97) of Bedford; five grandchildren: Garrett Davis, Jamie Davis, Kristen Bohn and husband Brian, Rebecca Pugh and husband Matthew, and Sarah Nichols and husband Andrew, as well as seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday, June 26 from 1-5PM at Grove Hill Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2PM on Monday, June 27 at Grove Hill Funeral Home, with interment at Grove Hill Memorial Park. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made in Freda’s memory to Disciples of Holy Trinity (DOT) 5810 Live Oak St., Dallas, TX 75214.
