Beloved husband, brother, friend and uncle “Bo,” passed away on Dec 13, 2014.
Geoff was born on November 20, 1942 in Hartford, Connecticut. He was preceded in death by his parents, C. Walter and Gertrude Nelson, and his sister, Joni Nelson-Fitch. He is survived by his wife, Betty, brothers, Bob and John Nelson, sister, Karin Nelson, and numerous nieces and nephews. Geoff graduated from Mount Hermon School, Upsala College, and Rutgers University. He was on the golf and basketball teams in high school and college. Geoff had a long career with Prudential where he served as Vice President of Commercial Real Estate Acquisitions. He was a life long fan of the NY Giants and the Boston Red Sox. Although Geoff was a Yankee, he quickly grew to love Dallas. He loved spending time on the golf course with the “cartel.” Geoff loved all kinds of music: jazz, the blues, folk music and especially rock and roll. Many of Betty and Geoff’s dinner parties ended with a spontaneous “sock hop” around the dining room. He took as much delight in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as he did visiting museums and art galleries. He loved to travel and also enjoyed long car trips—one memorable one was from Dallas to Toronto. Geoff was proud of his Swedish heritage. A gentle giant, he was kind to all and will be much missed by all who knew and loved him. The family will have a private burial and will celebrate Geoff’s life at a later date. Memorials may be made to the North Texas Food Bank.
