George W. Cook passed away on December 1, 2012. The original Dallasite was born in Oak Cliff in 1949. He graduated from Highland Park High School and went on to earn a BBA and MBA from what is now known as the University of North Texas in Denton. After a career in banking and investments, he spent his retirement studying, collection, and writing about Dallas middle class history and Dallas historical photography. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Martha and Gus Cook. He had a host of friends, but beyond several cousins, had no other close relatives. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at Sparkman Hillcrest. Funeral will be held 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at Chapel East of Hillcrest Memorial Park with entombment to follow in Hillcrest Mausoleum.
