

George Kent Kuesel passed from this life and claimed his ultimate reward with his Lord Jesus Christ on September 16, 2010, after a short illness. George was born on January 10, 1920 in Little Falls, Minnesota to August and Elizabeth Kuesel. There were a total of four brothers and two sisters. Music became a part of George’s life at a very young age. The brothers sang as a quartet at church, school and social functions. After George graduated from Northwest Missouri State Teachers College, he decided to move to Texas in 1942. He began his career with WFAA Radio as their music librarian and featured soloist on “The Early Birds Show” until 1958, which was the last live radio in Dallas-Ft. Worth. He joined First Presbyterian Church in Dallas and became their main soloist and sang in the choir for four decades. He met Maurine George singing in the choir and they married on November 2, 1945 and were married almost fifty years before her death in September 1984. George and Maurine adopted Ken Kent Kuesel in January 1950 and he was their only child. George was given a beautiful baritone voice by the Lord and he used it to glorify Him every chance he had. He sang for approximately 3,500 funeral and several hundred weddings. He regularly appeared as Santa Claus on “The Mister Peppermint Show” with Jerry Haynes on Channel 8, WFAA TV. In August of 1995 he married the second love of his life, Julia “Judy” Ball, and they had fifteen beautiful years’ together traveling and enjoying friends and family. George loved the Lord, his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife Judy Ball Kuesel, his brother Fred Kuesel, his son Ken Kent Kuesel and his wife Tonia, his four granddaughters Meredith, Candice, Mallory and Kendall and two great granddaughters, Alexa and Cameron Conroy and many nieces and nephews. George’s extended family includes two step children, Peggy Moore and Chester Ball and their spouses, Charles and Margaret, four grandchildren and one great grandchild. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Sunday at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 20, 2010 at First Presbyterian Church in Dallas in the Sudie George Chapel, Rev. Joe Clifford and Rev. Bruce Buchanan, officiating.
