

George Henry Sims was born on February 10, 1930 to Delbert Loyd Sims and Ruth Ainsworth Sims in Wylie, Texas. His mother died with cancer when he was three years old, and he was raised by his paternal grandmother, B. Burns until age eleven when his middle toe was removed due to cancer. He then lived with his dad and stepmother, Rosalie Pasqua. George had three different types of cancer during his life, and he outlived them all. He loved to remove his shoe and show people his toe was gone.
George Henry Sims and Patricia Ann Nobles were married on 11-11-1955 for 27 years, with son David Alan being born to them on June 24, 1964. George served in the U.S. Army as a cook and in the Military Police. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1980 after 35 years of service. He belonged to the Jewel P. Lightfoot and Mesquite Masonic Lodges, and was a Mason for over 60 years. George was very knowledgeable on history and war, and loved discussing these with everyone.
George is survived by his son, David Alan Sims and wife Anita; ex-wife, Patricia Ann Sims Smith; brother, Leo Anthony Sims and wife Marie; grandchildren, Darryl Alan Sims, Stormi Amber McDaniel and husband Shamir, and Mark Andrew Sims; great-grandchildren, Patrick, Deylan, Carter, and Alan; nieces, Kathy and Suzanne; and nephews, Stephen and Tim.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 30 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., and Funeral Services will be held Thursday, May 1, 2014 at 12:00 P.M. at Grove Hill Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Dallas Ft. Worth National Cemetery in Dallas at 2:30 P.M.
