

George, known as 'Pugie' by many, was born April 7, 1953, in Dallas, Texas. He attended W.W. Samuel High School, where he met his soulmate, Janice Ann. He was CO of Trojan 12 in the Corps of Cadets at Texas A&M University, where he earned a BS degree in Zoology and a BA Degree in History. After graduation he was commissioned as an officer the Air Force. After completing his commitment, George returned to Dallas and earned his MD degree at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He completed his residency at Parkland Hospital and practiced Obstetrics and Gynecology in Irving for 28 years, volunteering weekly for the underprivileged at Los Barrios Unidos Community Clinic for over a decade. 'Dr. T' served as Scoutmaster of Troop 718 for 14 years, helping many young men reach Eagle Scout and building a strong new foundation for the troop at its current home, Lovers Lane United Methodist Church. For his service, George was awarded the Silver Beaver, the highest honor for adult leadership in Scouting. George loved smoking pipes and cigars, listening to the Texas Rangers, and worshipping and serving Christ actively as a Gideon and at Lovers Lane, where he recently received the Cross and Flame award.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Janice Clanton Theilen; his brothers Don Daffron of Commerce, Frank Theilen and wife Ellen of Farmers Branch, Lee Theilen of Dallas, and Darby Theilen and wife Richelle of Willis; his sisters-in-law Debbie Astfalk and husband Greg of Parker and Jo Deane Pearce and husband David of Carrollton; his sons Tyson and wife Meagan of Plano, Trevor and wife Betsy of Austin, and Jack and Duke of Dallas; his grandchildren Madeline, Beau, Paige, and Parker of Plano.; six nephews and many close friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, George Bernard Theilen, Jr. and Bina Kugler Theilen of Dallas.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2015at 11 AM at Lovers Lane United Methodist Church.
