She was married to James Eugene (Gene) McGarrah who preceded her in death along with her two brothers, a sister, and many close cousins. She was a proud British citizen whose formative years were impacted by WWII including a long arduous refugee journey from Belgium to England and tenure as a Civil Servant at Bletchley Park working with codebreakers to shorten the War. She met and married a Dallas native, Gene, while working at Texas Instruments in Bedford, England and moved to Dallas in 1966 after her daughter, Nicole, was born. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend. She loved to feed the birds, garden and knit. Up until a few days before her death she enjoyed watching game shows and golf, sitting in the sun, and working with her knitting wool.
She is survived by her daughter, Nicole Johnson; son-in-law, Bobby; grandson, Nicholas; and many niece nephews and their families in England and Kenya.
A visitation will be held at Sparkman-Crane Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 from 6:00-8:00 PM with a rosary at 7:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, June 16, 2022 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 6306 Kenwood Ave, Dallas, TX 75214. Interment will follow at Calvary Hill Cemetery.
