

Gerald, “Jerry” was raised in New Mexico and returned later to Dallas. He volunteered and served honorably in the Army.
Jerry began his Undergraduate studies at William & Mary College in Williamsburg, Virginia. While serving his country in Verona, Italy as a courier for NATO Italian studies, he continued his education through The University of Maryland Extension College. Jerry received his BA in government and history at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. He later earned a LL.B in Law from Southern Methodist University. Jerry is a member of the legal fraternity Phi Delta Phi at Monteith Inn at SMU, Dallas, TX.
Jerry practiced law in Dallas for over 50 years. He was a member of the Texas Bar Association, a past member of the American Bar Association, the Dallas Bar Association, Texas Trial Lawyers, Dallas Trial Lawyers as well as a past member of the National Employment Lawyers Association (Dallas Chapter) and the Tarrant County Bar Association and the Texas State Bar College.
Jerry was licensed to practice before the Supreme Court of the State of Texas and all inferior courts of this state and before the Supreme Court of the United States of America. He was admitted to practice before the United States Federal District Court for the Northern District of Texas – Dallas, TX, before the United States Federal District Court for the Eastern District of Texas and before the United States Federal Court of Appeals, 5th Circuit.
Jerry was a past panel member of the Texas Bar Grievance Committee for the North Texas Area in Dallas, Texas for 2005-2006.
He was an avid reader of Ancient Egyptology, European and American History, all with an emphasis on original documents of importance in the development of Western Civilization and Law.
Jerry was a landscape painter and writer of technical articles in law and travel.
He is survived by his wife of many years, Elena Livingston as well as his brother Bert Kennedy and Bert’s wife Dona, their daughter Cecily Porterfield and her daughters Emily Porterfield, Eileen Porterfield and many other family members.
A memorial service will be held at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home in the Bill Sparkman Memorial Chapel on Saturday, March 25, at 10:00a.m.
