Geraldine Ione Bloomer Hershey of Carrollton, passed away Sept. 28,2010. She had recently left her beloved home in Carrollton, her birds, squirrels and rabbits and moved into a private nursing residence. She was lovingly cared for by Edith these last 2 months. A brief illness came upon her which has saddened her family and friends. She especially loved her neighbors. Paul and Karen Klein, Dave and Nancy Sponhour and Jane Coleman, who watched over her these past several years allowing her to stay longer in her home. Preceded in death by her husband, Robert B Hershey, mother Ione Bloomer, father Harry Clay Bloomer, sister in law, Edna Buchanan of Johnstown Pa.and her German Sheppard Stella. Survived by her step children Katherine Robertson, Laurie Haggard. Clay Hershey and Polly Mandelstam, their spouses and children. Geri was a devoted volunteer at Parkland Hospital for many years making flower arrangements in the gift shop alongside her dear friend, Eunice Yancey. Geri spent most of her working years as a Buyer for Titches Dept. Stores. Geri was the love of our father’s life, his soul mate, whom he found later in life. Together they had 12 years before his death in 1987.Visitation will be on Sunday, October 3rd from 12-3 with a brief service during this time around 2:30 in the viewing room.
