Ms. Gladys Harris, of Highland Park, MI passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2017 at the age of 105 in Dallas, Texas. She was born to Lovie May Jest and Bud Harris on July 5, 1912 in Russellville, KY. She grew up as the eldest of six and took care of her parents and siblings until they preceded her in death. Gladys came to Detroit at the age of 25 where she met and married Eddie Harrington. Gladys and Eddie were blessed with two sons Norvell Edward and LeVon Andre. Gladys spent the majority of her life taking care of others. She worked as a housekeeper for the Brownlee-Cassel and McCarthy families whom she loved dearly. During retirement she traveled, volunteered at her senior building where she lived, shopped and just enjoyed life. She always had words of wisdom and a feisty spirit. She was a very strong woman that didn’t take a lot of mess, but she loved hard and was always there when you needed her. She was dedicated to her family and was a known as Mom, Aunt Gladys, and Grandma to everybody. She touched so many lives and left a lasting impression on everyone that had the pleasure of meeting her. She didn’t let age slow her down even when we tried to get her to be still. When we ask “How you doing grandma?” Her reply was always “I’m kicking low, but I’m kicking” I would tell her that’s good, long as you kicking something. That would always make her laugh. We all will be lucky to live a life so fulfilling and blessed as Gladys Irene Harris. On October 15 God called his child home to a better place. She is survived by her sons LeVon (Dana), Jerome (Sharon), and Norvell; grandchildren Jami (Cleveland), Christopher (Monique), Kesha (James), Andre, Shannon, and Brittany (Stan); great grandchildren Brittni, Tiffini, Kiara, Jalen, Christopher, Christian, Jordan, and Caitlyn; great-great grandchildren Brianna, Kennedi, Mackenzie, Jaidyn, Benjamin Jr. and Brent Jr. A special niece Terri (William).
