Gwendolyn Stratton Charpentier passed away February 29, 2016 at the age of 87 in Rockwall, Texas. Gwen was born on June 7, 1928 to Dollie Grace and Lawrence Stratton in Oklahoma. A graduate of Kansas State University, Gwen married Leonard A. Charpentier, MD on November 13, 1956, whom she met while she was Chief Dietician for John Sealy Hospital (now UTMB) in Galveston, Texas. Gwen is preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
In Galveston, Gwen was an active member of the Junior League, bookkeeper for Trinity Episcopal School, dedicated member of Trinity Episcopal Church, and President of The Women’s Medical Auxiliary.
During her retirement in Abilene, Gwen served on the Altar Guild of Church of the Heavenly Rest, and was active in the Women’s Investment Club.
Gwen is survived by Larry and Anne Charpentier and their children, Drew, Thomas and Jane, and by Alicia and Joe Haley, and their family, Hatsie, Kevin, Stratton and Kelsey.
A private memorial and inurnment service will be held at Church of the Heavenly Rest at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Trinity Episcopal School, Church of the Heavenly Rest, or the donor’s favorite charity.
