

In 1942 Gwendolyn's mother Jessie Rene moved to Dallas TX where Gwendolyn attended St Mary’s Catholic School. In 1952 her mother Jessie moved them to Kansas City Mo, where she attended and graduated from R.T Coles High School. Out of high school she and former school mate Linwood M. Henderson dated and from their relationship bore two children Vernessa and Sheila. Very shortly after she met and fell in love and married Robert L. Turner on September 1, 1960. Their union bore seven children, Linda, Robert Jr., Brian, Jacqueline, Joe, Vickie, and Michael.
In 1969 Gwendolyn moved herself and nine children to Cedar Rapids, Iowa. After just over one-year Gwendolyn decided it was too cold and headed south to Dallas where she settled.
Gwendolyn work for the Dallas Housing Authority for 20+ years.
In her earlier years, Gwendolyn enjoyed, playing volleyball, softball, and spades. She was an avid spectator of many sports, including golf, basketball, rodeo, figure skating, gymnastics and many more. In her spare time, her hobbies were drawing, and she truly enjoyed coloring books. And not many know this but, Gwendolyn was a very talented seamstress, she enjoyed sewing.
Gwendolyn is survived by 10 children, Vernessa Thomas, Sheila Thomas, Linda Turner, Robert Turner, Jr., Brian Turner, Jacqueline Turner, Joe Turner, Vicki Turner, Michael Turner, and Robert Clark. 39 Grand Children, 69 Great-Grandchildren, and 62 Great-Great Grandchildren, and 2 Great-Great-Great Grand Children, In addition, a host of extended family and friends.
Gwendolyn is preceded in death by Mother, Jessie Rene Gocher, Father, Johnny Thomas, Grandmother Irene Stinnett, Aunts, Clara Thomas and Lucy Yarbrough, Son In-Law, Billy B Whitaker, Grandson’s, Marcus D. Turner and D’Angelo Roundtree
