Parents were Harold, Sr. and Ella V Fouts Everett.
Primary and secondary education was in Texas and Oklahoma schools. Interest in aviation led to soloing a Piper Cub at age 16, and pursuing a career in aerospace engineering. He graduated from Oklahoma A & M, where he was a member of SAE fraternity and the college soaring club.
His graduation in 1951, during the Korean War, led to pilot training in the Air Force, serving with the 21st Fighter Bomber Wing, and competing as a member of the Wing gunnery team in California and France. Next flying was with The Texas Air National Guard while completing graduate work in Aeronautical Engineering at U. T. Austin and working as a missile engineer in Fort Worth and Grand Prairie. Engineering fields of interest were orbital mechanics, missile flight simulation, and engineering management. He completed 35 years of engineering, 31 of which were with LTV Aerospace and successor companies. The President’s Performance Award he received in 1992 was the result of a missile guidance innovation.
Harold was a long-time member of the Arlington Yacht Club, and held several offices. Volunteer work included elementary school mentoring and Meals On Wheels delivery up to the age of 83.
Survivors are his wife of 51 years, Barbara; son Douglas Everett of Tucson; son Dr. Hal Everett, M.D. of Tyler, his wife Susan, their children Emily, David, Mary Ella, Jonathan, and Hallie; and daughter, Anne Rogers of Dallas, her husband Jamie, and their children James and Robert.
