

He attended Allen Military Academy in Bryan, Texas graduating in 1945.
He then enrolled at The University of Texas-Austin. He never graduated but fulfilled the requirements for entry UT Medical Branch-Galveston in 1948.
There he met the Love of His Life, Rita Clare Wooley. They married the day after his Medical School Graduation.
After completing a 1 year Rotating Internship at King County Hospital in Seattle, he spent 2 years in the US Navy Seabees. There he was the Medical Officer for the Seabees carving a landing strip out of the jungle in the Philippines. He was Honorably discharged in 1955.
Just a few months later Dr. Jamison began a 3 year Residency at Parkland Memorial Hospital under the New Department Chairman, Dr. Jack Pritchard. He was proud to be Dr. Pritchard’s First Resident.
Dr. Jamison taught at the Medical School for 1 year then began private practice in Ob/Gyn at Methodist Hospital of Dallas. He continued to practice there until his retirement at age 70. He cared for Tens of Thousands of patients and delivered Thousands of babies.
Even though he was very busy in in private practice, Dr. Jamison continued to teach Gynecology Surgery to the Residents at Parkland Hospital – First Case Every Monday Morning for 38 years.
He was a Founding Member and Past President of Southwest Gynecologic Association. He held numerous positions as President or Chairman of multiple Medical Organizations.
Always the innovator, he was the first Laparoscopic Surgeon and first Gyn Microsurgeon at Methodist Medical Center.
Jack Jamison was an avid sportsman which began at the side of his father in Arkansas. He loved bass fishing every chance he got. He was a crack shot hunter of dove, quail and pheasant. He was one of the Founding Members of The Rough Creek Lodge Rod and Gun Club.
He was an accomplished craftsman who loved woodworking, making furniture for anyone who wanted his works.
He loved to read, especially Louis L’Amour Western Novels.
He loved New Orleans.
And he loved his Dallas Cowboys!!
Harwin loved Rita, his wife of 53 years, until the day he died. Now they can resume their love affair.
He loved his children, Richard, Kevin, Jack and Deirdre.
He loved his Grandchildren, Lee, John, Lauren, Patricia, Ally, Thomas and Audrey.
He loved his Great Grandchildren, Hudson, Decker and Bennett.
Harwin Jamison died June 26, 2024 after a Remarkable 95 Year Life.
He was loved by many.
He will be missed
