Helen Grace Jones

Sunrise: Helen Grace Cotton Jones was born on April 16, 1953 in Sicily Island, Louisiana to the late Willie Cotton and Gracie Penn Cotton. At an early age, she joined St. Paul Baptist Church of Sicily Island, Louisiana under the leadership of Reverend G.W. Roy. She was also a 1971 graduate of Sicily Island High School. Later she moved to Dallas, Texas and became a faithful member of Forest Avenue Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend E.A. Greer and now Pastor K.G. Burkley. On December 19, 1980, she married James Earl Jones, who proceeded her in death in 2013. During this union, she gained two daughters, Shundra Michael and Sonya Jones, who also proceeded her in death in 2013. She was a retired employee of Dallas Power and Light and started her own family home daycare in 1992. Sunset: God called her to rest at 2:45 pm on February 6, 2016 at Dallas Regional Medical Center in Mesquite, Texas. She leaves to cherish her memory: Daughter Shundra Michael (Richard), Sisters Janice Davis (Lonnell), Birtha L. Jeter, Monica Cotton, all of Dallas, Texas, Johnnie Faye Cotton of Sicily Island, and Carol Anderson of Winsboro, Louisiana, Brothers Dwight Cotton Sr. (Sandra) of Waxahachie, Texas, Jermiah Grant of Monroe, Louisiana, and Charlie Brass of Las Vegas, Nevada, Grandchildren Keona Gaines (Russell), Da’Wona Lewis, Jamichael Huntsberry, Shaquer Williams, Dekevieus Lewis, Richundria Michael, Rileigh Michael, and Richard Michael Jr, Great Grandchildren Keon Gaines, Mya Lewis, Hailey Huntsberry, Chester Thomas II, and Chester Thomas IV, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and aunts.
